Regal Inn Umhlanga Gateway - Your Stay in Umhlanga

Regal Inn Umhlanga Gateway offers air-conditioned Standard Queen Rooms and Deluxe Double Rooms. Each room includes a flat-screen TV with limited SABC and eTV channels, a kettle, and daily housekeeping. Rooms are compact but clean, with fresh bed linen and towels. Guests report no fridge or microwave, but a shared microwave and fridge are near the reception. Some rooms have small windows with no view, likened to a 'prison window' by one guest.

The on-site restaurant serves locally sourced meals cooked to perfection, with a retro design and a good breakfast menu offering a variety of options. Breakfast is not a buffet but packaged; note it lacks filter coffee (only Nescafe Gold instant). The restaurant closes at 4:00 PM, so room service is not available for dinner. Breakfast can be requested early (e.g., 3:00 AM) if needed.

No leisure facilities are on-site beyond the restaurant. The hotel is not near the beach (2 km from Umhlanga Main Beach). Guests can use a shared ironing station on the first floor (no iron in rooms). The TV channels are limited (no BBC, eNCA, or Netflix). Wi-Fi is available in public areas but can be slow (under 5 Mbps) in some rooms. Parking is free but limited, with some underground spaces feeling unsafe due to noise from drinkers.

Regal Inn Umhlanga Gateway is in the Umhlanga district, 400 meters from Gateway Theatre of Shopping. It's a 15-minute drive from King Shaka International Airport and 2 km from Umhlanga Main Beach and Bronze Beach. Guests can walk to Gateway Mall (5 minutes) or take a short Uber to Umhlanga Lagoon Nature Reserve. The area has shops and restaurants nearby. Public transport is not directly noted, but Bolt and Uber are close by.

The hotel has a 24-hour front desk, free private parking (self-parking), and daily housekeeping. Security is good: room keys are needed for the elevator (only residents can go up), and CCTV is in common areas. However, a R50 fee is charged for an extra room card, and the card must be reactivated daily at the reception. There is no room service for dinner (restaurant closes at 4 PM). Ironing is only on the first floor. A deposit is required for a hairdryer. Some guests note that management does not enforce quiet rules after 10 PM, leading to noise from other guests.
